About Herstine Wright

Dr. Herstine Wright is an Award-Winning Author and has to date authored eight (8) powerful spiritual books, which are distributed worldwide. Over the years, she has traveled extensively across the country signing copies of her books at various venues.

Dr. Wright, a resident of Chicago, IL, was born in Mound Bayou, Mississippi in the Delta, known for its rich heritage and founded by ex-slaves, to sharecroppers. In 1965, her family migrated to Chicago, IL, where she attended and graduated from the Chicago Public Schools. For 34 years, she was employed as an educator. Thirty-two of those years she worked in the community colleges in Illinois teaching Business Education and English courses. After a long career, she was acknowledged for her excellence in Education and other civic duties. Upon her retirement in 2009, she received honorable notable recognition from the City Council of Chicago by Alderman Carrie Austin.

Dr. Wright is also a retired part-time employee of the Chicago Sun-Times Newspaper. She was employed for 20 years in the Classified Advertising Department and worked concurrently while teaching full-time. Three of those years, she worked as a supervisor of the part-time evening staff. She has also served as an Honorary Vice-Chair of the Honorable Dorothy Brown, former Clerk of the Circuit Court of Chicago, State of Black Chicago Congress.

Dr. Wright is the co-founder and Executive Director of Advocates of Change/OPIB, non-profit organizations, which advocate the safety of children in and around public schools in America. To encourage children, the organization’s Advocate of Change Foundation, “Do It For The Children” community event, awards the Hadiyah Pendleton Legacy Scholarship, which she founded in 2013, to children of high scholastic achievements in public as well as private schools by assisting them in defraying tuition/college costs. The organization also awards the Advocates of Change/OPIB Scholarship students who exemplify excellent community service.

Wright loves God and has a heart for Evangelism. Over the years, she has ministered on the streets and in neighborhoods across the city of Chicago and the Chicagoland area, (Robbins, Chicago Heights, Ford Heights, and Gary, Indiana) as part of 102.3FM Gospel radio station’s (Hammond, IN) evangelistic initiative and through her local church winning souls for Christ. She has also partnered with “Sisters On the Street,” Pastor Corey Brooks’ Project Hood summer initiative, in an effort to quell violence in neighborhoods across the city of Chicago. Because of her passion for Outreach Ministry (street evangelism/soul winning) and serving the homeless community, she co-founded S.A.L.T.E.D (Saving A Life To End Destruction) in 2017 to further the Cause. In 2022, her organization (Advocates of Change) created the Violence Intervention Program (V.I.P.), which actively engages with underserved populations, offering support, resources and opportunities for growth; workforce development and job training; street outreach and peace keeping.

She also served the patients in the Long-Term Care unit at Oak Forest Hospital for more than seven years, encouraging them with food, birthday blessings, and the Word of God. Because of her community work, she was awarded the M3:16 Community Excellence Award; and she was featured in one of the issues of their magazine.

Wright is also a teacher of the Word of God and ministers as a ‘guest teacher’ at Bible Studies and Women’s Retreats. She is the CEO of WriHers Ink and SFP Companies. She has earned a Ph.D, MA, MS, and BA degree in Religion, Business, Education and English. She has been a faithful member of Valley Kingdom Ministries International Church, Oak Forest, IL for more than 33 years.
